Boat Dock Rules PDF Print E-mail
  1. Boat dock slips must be reserved for the desired period via the Tamarind Website at tamarindnews.com.
    (See Addendum below)
  2. Tamarind is NOT responsible for and does not provide insurance for marine related accidents or for damage or loss to your vessel. Exercise caution when you are on or near the docks. Practice good boating safety and courtesy. Pass items; reach for them after you are in the boat.
  3. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age when on the boat docks. Playing or running on or swimming from the docks is strictly prohibited.
  4. The use of a dock for commercial ventures is strictly prohibited. No signs of any kind are to be attached to any vessel, while docked, example; For Sale, Charter, etc. Coast Guard signage is permitted while docked if on Bravo 0 standby alert.
  5. The alteration of or the attachment of any device to any dock is prohibited without the prior consent of the Association management.
  6. The safety of your boat and the protection of the docks from damage caused by your boat is your responsibility. The cost to repair damage incurred to the docks by your boat shall be chargeable to the vessel owner. It is recommended that all boats should be removed from the docks when hurricanes or tropical storm force winds are forecasted
  7. Spring lines - forward to stern dock area cleat or piling, and aft to forward dock area cleat or piling - are to be used to prevent forward and backward motion of your boat. As these lines extend crisscross the length of your boat, they ride with tidal change. Bow and stern lines (laterally secured) prevent sideways outward drift of your boat. Because these lines are short and direct, they should be slack to allow for tidal change. Fenders on the dockside of your boat prevent damage due to contact with the dock. Do not secure a boat with taut lines except for the longitudinal spring lines, as this will either pull the cleats out of your boat or the dock at low tide.
  8. Nothing is ever to be left on the docks or dock railings - especially fishing hooks.
  9. Weather protect your boat. A common resort marine problem is sunken boats after a heavy rain.
  10. Live bait in floating bait buckets will last about two days. After that, sea growth takes
over and bait buckets should be withdrawn and cleaned.
  11. No cooking is to take place on the docks or in boats that are docked. The use of a vessel as a dwelling while docked is strictly prohibited.
  12. Nothing is ever to be dumped overboard - garbage, food containers, paper, fuel or oil, sanitary waste, etc. There are heavy fines for this, and Tamarind will aid in the prosecution of violators.
  13. Spearing or “gigging” fish off the docks is not permitted.
  14. Florida has various seasonal protection laws for species of saltwater as well as freshwater fish. Awareness of these and appropriate compliance is your responsibility.
  15. Fresh water and power are provided for occasional, appropriate use by boaters and fishermen. A fish-cleaning table is located at the south end of the docks. Please remove all waste and garbage. Waste residue attracts bugs and animals, leaves an odor and is unsightly.
  16. The water between the docks and the Intercoastal Waterway is not channeled. Rather, it is environmentally protected. Local knowledge of the waters and tide level is required to negotiate in these waters.
  17. Florida law requires all boats equipped with any kind of motor power to be registered and tagged. Coast Guard law requires personal floatation devices (PFD’s) or life preservers that are labeled “Coast Guard Approved” for each person aboard and an anchor. Also, depending on boat length, fire extinguishers, horns and other safety and sanitary equipment are required.
  18. Boats may not be operated at night or after sunset without legally prescribed lights.
  19. The Intercoastal Waterway is a federally maintained waterway and is used by large vessels and barges as well as pleasure craft of all sizes. It is marked by the Coast Guard and patrolled by the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary and local police marine patrols. Observe rules-of-the-road, safety and courtesy. Water skiing, diving and fishing in the channel is not allowed. Small boats should be particularly wary of the bow waves of large vessels and barges. Wave action swamping, capsizing and man overboard cause the largest number of all boat accidents.
  20. The knowledge of and adherence to all boating and marine life laws, rules and regulations is the responsibility of the boat owner.
  21. The “Rules and Regulations For Boat Dock Use” is an addendum to and a part of the “Rules And Regulations of Tamarind Gulf And Bay Condominiums“. Failure to abide by these rules shall result in fines and penalties as structured in the parent “Rules and Regulations. The means of enforcement of the Rules and Regulations of an Association are provided for in Florida Statute 718.112.
